We are writing to let you know about a recall initiated by our manufacturing partner, Totally Cool, Inc., which includes all flavors and all batches of our ice cream within expiration.  

Totally Cool initiated a recall of all products, which covers about 13 different brands that it manufactures on behalf of, produced at its facility based on the presence of Listeria monocytogenes on its ice cream cake line, detected during a routine FDA
inspection. They have ceased production and distribution of all products.  Totally Cool has reported that it has not received any reports of illnesses related to the recalled products.

Please note that Listeria monocytogenes, although not found in Marco product, is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy
individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The products made for Marco Sweets & Spices were not made using the production line in question and no Listeria contamination has been detected in Marco’s products.  However, Totally Cool elected to recall all pints and sandwiches produced out of the abundance of caution and in cooperation with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  The Marco Sweets & Spices products affected by this voluntary recall were distributed in all states in the United States, primarily to wholesalers and retailers who in-turn sold them to consumers and are identified below.

Pints:

• 16 fl oz Dulce De Leche & Cookies Ice Cream Pints
• 16 fl oz Turkish Mocha Ice Cream Pints
• 16 fl oz Vanilla Chai Ice Cream Pints
• 16 fl oz Spicy Peanut Butter Caramel and Peanut Butter Caramel Ice Cream Pints
• 16 fl oz Moroccan Honey Nut Ice Cream Pints
• 16 fl oz Green Tea White Chocolate Ice Cream Pints
• 16 fl oz Aztec Chocolate Ice Cream Pints

Recalled Expiration Identification:

• 06/30/24 – 12/31/25

Sandwiches:

• 4 fl oz Dulce De Leche Ice Cream Sandwiches
• 4 fl oz Vanilla Chai Ice Cream Sandwiches

Recalled Expiration Identification:

• 05/27/26 – 5/28/26

Lot numbers for the products are
located on the bottom of the pint containers and [INSERT for the sandwiches].

Marco Sweets & Spices is requesting that any wholesaler or retailer that has any of the product identified above collect it, identify it and place it in a quarantined area,
then immediately contact Marco Sweets & Spices (see contact information at
the bottom of this notice). Consumers with the recalled product should
immediately return it to the retail store where it was purchased or destroy it.

We take safety and quality of our products very seriously and regret any inconvenience this has caused.  We are in the process of identifying a new
manufacturing partner who can consistently meet our stringent quality and
safety standards, and further our commitment to providing consumers with the
best products.
